Conservatives Abroad in Hong Kong were delighted to welcome for lunch Sir Gerald Howarth, the MP for Aldershot and the recent Minister for International Security Strategy. The event, which was the biggest held by CAHK for many years, was attended by a mix of Conservative members, security professionals, and interested participants from several affiliated political groups, including Republicans Abroad.

Bejing Blue Club Propose a UK Strategic Paper on China

Mark Pinner, Chairman Bejing Blue Club, Anatole Pang and Tom Calvert presented their paper at a Fringe Breakfast Meeting at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. "Britain is well positioned culturally, historically and linguistically to take vastly greater advantage of China's emergence to forge new economic, cultural and diplomatic ties" they agreed.  Jackson Ng, Director of the Conservative Friends of the Chinese was in attndance.

A Cross Party Committee led by the House of Commons Speaker, John Burcow MP has been created to encourage UK expats to sign up to the Electoral Register.

Hong Kong Branch re-launched

The UK Conservatives Abroad Society in Hong Kong was re-launched last night at a well-attended dinner at the territory’s prestigious China Club. Despite having existed for many decades, membership has fallen in recent years and so a new committee has been formed to take the society forward again.
