On 15 November, Conservatives Abroad Sydney was delighted to host a luncheon for the Rt Hon. Francis Maude MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, at Sydney’s Union, University and Schools Club. The luncheon was attended by the Sydney Branch Chairman Mike Todd, Hon. Secretary & Treasurer, James Connell and Registration & Social Events Officer, Anthony Downie and over 10 members and guests. The Chairman of the Sydney branch, Mike Todd, noted, "Between now and 2015 our aim is to grow the Sydney branch to a level where we can make a significant contribution to the Conservative Party and its campaign in the general election that year".
Mr. Maude thanked the Sydney branch for hosting the luncheon, adding, "There is real opportunity for the Sydney Conservatives Abroad Branch to harness the large numbers of British citizens and likely Conservative voters, living not only in Sydney but across Australia". He said that he would "spread the good word" about the Sydney branch to fellow Conservative MPs and let them know that if Australia was on their itinerary, then a warm welcome awaits them in Sydney.
